A man who allegedly was robbing a house on Craft Road in Oxford is in the hospital after the home owner’s father-in-law shot him Monday afternoon, according to Oxford Police Department reports.
One suspect was transported to Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, and another who fled the scene is in police custody. Police said the two men earlier had robbed the house and were confronted by the shooter, who was checking on the property, when they returned.
Lt. Louis LeFoy said the facts were not clear enough to determine whether the shooter’s actions were legal, adding that he expects a grand jury will be convened. LeFoy said charges for theft are pending for both suspects.
