GUILFORD — A Branford woman injured in a car accident on the Boston Post Road Wednesday died of her injuries at Yale-New Haven Hospital Thursday morning.
Police said Joann Santore, 66, was badly injured in the two-car crash. The driver of the second car was treated and released at the Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center’s emergency department, according to police.
The accident occurred about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday as Santore was pulling out of a commercial parking lot at 2293 Boston Post Road, Deputy Police Chief Jeffrey Hutchinson said.
A car traveling westbound on the Post Road hit Santore’s car on the driver’s side.
There were no passengers in either car, and police did not release more information about the driver of the second car.
Fire officials extricated Santore from her car and she was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
The crash closed a portion of the Boston Post Road for about two hours Wednesday morning, Hutchinson said.
Members of the Police Department’s accident reconstruction team are continuing to investigate, but Hutchinson said they are not conducting a criminal investigation.
“The actual report isn’t done as far as cause,” he said.
